DANCING LEAVES...

Driving down the thoroughfare ..
I watch the leaves dance
Precociously ..
They jump, fly, scurry
and twist, each so
serendipitously...

Pavement stained with color now..
Yellow, gold, red and brown..

The wind creates this  frantic furl ..
Leaves that dance to each whisp and swirl..

Prancing their dance at every turn..
Knowing their end is no concern..

Just weeks ago they were the color green..
Hanging tight to the branch of a tree ..

So dance away til the snow drifts come..
Dancing leaves fade, their time is done..
